SenegalVenture - the work of WorldVenture in Senegal

SenegalVenture is involved in the following ministries:

  • Leadership Development
    • ITES (Institut de Theologie Evangelique du Senegal) - the premier seminary-style leadership training school in Senegal.  Jointly founded (in 1994) and run by WorldVenture along with several other missions and indigenous evangelical organizations.
    • Mentoring, non-formal, and informal leadership development as appropriate, especially in rural areas where formal training is difficult or not cost-effective.
  • Evangelism / Church Planting
    • in Dakar (the capital city, on the coast)
    • in Thies (second largest city, about 50 miles inland)
    • in Diourbel (informal capital of Senegal's largest Muslim sect, 3 hours inland)
    • rural chapels, especially in the Diourbel area
  • Vocational Training
    • mechanics' training
      • for believers - to provide them with a way to make a living and support their local churches
      • and for Muslims - as a bridge to building redemptive relationships with them
  • Bible Translation (into Wolof)
  • Relief, Development, and Compassion
    • occasional relief efforts, especially in cases of severe drought
    • rural literacy program
    • street children's ministry
  • MK (missionary kid) Education - Dakar Academy
    • an American education with a biblical foundation for grades K-12, including typical American inter-scholastic activities (such as sports, drama, etc.)
    • the Academy's mission is to provide quality American-style education for the children of missionary parents working throughout West Africa, but it serves a wide variety of non-missionary children as resources permit

  • Beach Campsite
    • SenegalVenture maintains a seaside campsite (Ngaparou) that evangelical groups may use for evangelism and discipleship camps
